I am an attorney practicing law in Houlton, Maine. The majority of my cases are in the corporate, civil, real estate and family law matters. I am a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Trustee and the Representative for District 8, in the 123rd Maine Legislature. As a member of the 123rd I also serve on the Business Research & Economic Development Committee (BRED). Recently I was named to the Labor and Business Committee of the National Conference of State Legislatures. I was re-elected to the Maine Legislature in 2008 and serve on the BRED committee and the Judiciary Committee.
I have had some serious and high profile cases such as gross sexual assaults (rape),kidnapping, attempted murder, gang leader trials, drug cases and felony embezzlement. I have also had some minor ones, such as fishing too close to a dam and driving to endanger. I've won some and I've lost some.
Here in Houlton we have a Higher Education Center where classes from Northern Maine Community College and the University of Maine at Presque Isle (UMPI) are offered. I have taught Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure and Criminal Justice 101 as an adjunct faculty member.
Besides law, I enjoy cycling. I have ridden in the MS-150 for several years. It is a charity event to find a cure for MS. To prepare I cycle between 100-150 miles per week and eat like a pig (mostly pasta). I also enjoy basketball, running and, of course, writing. I have had legal articles published as well as some fiction and historical articles.
